You’re feeling veeeery sleeeepy, and it might be because of your period
It’s not uncommon for people to feel extra tired during their period as estrogen levels get lower. This can be especially true when there is heavier bleeding involved. What we think of as “heavy bleeding” can vary from person to person, but if you’re having to use a tampon and back up pad, waking up in the night to change your sanitary product, bleeding for more than a week, seeing large blood clots, or regular activities are impacted, you can consider yourself in that boat.
If this sounds like you, make sure to drink plenty of water, or consume water-rich foods like watermelon 🍉 and cucumbers 🥒. If your energy levels don’t return to normal within a few days after your period, or you are unable to participate in your typical routine, pay a visit to your doctor to rule out things like Iron Deficiency Anaemia, Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism.
